I have done some initial experiments with pouring pewter over ice. Pewter melts at a low temperature meaning that the ice does not completely melt upon impact. I managed to get three cast out of one block of ice. However I feel that if the shape of the ice had been more cylindrical it would have given a more consistent shape at the pewter hits the top of the ice mould first making an initial indent.
I feel that there is a sort of narrative and poetry contained in this way of forming. It gives the object a background, story and individuality, creating a series of objects born from one and other. The idea would develop into perhaps a drinking vessel or vase providing an object for water use born from the forms of water/ice.
